This was the perfect light lunch spot. It's like walking into your family's kitchen, if your family is filling with loving abeulas (grandmas). Super friendly, beautiful vibrant interior, and flavorful food. The Tamales were tender and tasty.

Tamaliza has beautiful patio seating so kids can roam around while waiting for food. We had several entrees but managed to only snap a photo of hubby's no carb meal. Everything was delicious and fresh. Service was little slow but they were busy. Enjoy!!

Tamaliza had been on my list for a long time, and I recently had the chance to stop in here for a late lunch with a friend. They have a number of dishes that can be made vegan. I opted for the mushroom burrito and I was floored with the flavors they get into the mushrooms. I believe it was oyster mushrooms, but feel free to double check me. It is a counter service spot with a smaller interior and patio seating when the weather permits. The ambiance is simple, colorful and cozy. Prices are a smidgen high for the amount of food... it was nearly $70 for a burrito, enchiladas, 2 non-alc drinks and a small order of chips & salsa. I wouldn't normally be able to finish a burrito, but this was medium sized and I finished it pretty easily. I would return here based on the flavors of the food alone.

The chicken mole burrito was very authentic and light not heavy on the stomach. Ambiance was quiet. The owners attend the restaurant. Wife prepares food in the dining room area and husband takes orders and delivers food. I would recommend if you're looking for a fresh authentic Mexican restaurant.

Tamaliza is my favorite healthy Mexican restaurant in Sedona! This is a small family owned and run restaurant located in a strip mall shopping center. The restaurant decor is super cute, and the ambiance feels like you are dining in Mexico at a small mom and pops style eatery. The owner is a patrona, whom does most of the cooking when she is not in Mexico visiting family; and her husband runs the front of the house taking orders and assisting guests. The husband is very kind man, and he is extremely helpful if you have questions or need suggestions when ordering off the menu. The food here is AMAZZZZING! I highly recommend the beef tamales and chicken enchiladas in mole -- they were def my favorite items! The chicken tamale supreme was also very good! I would pass on the homemade horchata & (Jamaica) hibiscus tea next time though; the horchata was very thick & chalky, which could probably be easily rectified by straining the rice a bit more before serving it; and the hibiscus tea was too tart for me. Tamaliza is expensive for Mexican cuisine, but it's important to keep in mind that the food here is very "healthy Mexican" and light; so when you are done eating you don't feel boated, heartburn, or like you just gorged yourself by overeating! I would absolutely come here again and again for the beef tamales & chicken enchiladas in mole ... I LOVED the well-balanced spicy & sweet mole sauce, the not too spicy red & green salsa, and the solid personable customer service by the co-owner! The primary reason for the four star review is based on the portion size when compared to the price point -- I think the portion sizes should be substantially larger for the high cost of each menu item.

Wow!! This was a great experience! It's a nice little restaurant with shaded outdoor seating and amazing food! You can bring your dog with you to the outdoor seating area. You have to go inside to place the order and then they bring the food out to your table. When the food showed up, we were blown away. My tamale was so delicious and it was topped with beans and salad items. My husband also enjoyed his taco plate, one taco with pork and the other with beef. Definitely check them out.

The tamales are delicious, but the prices are so high for the size. The chicken in green sauce was good. The chicken mole tamale was excellent. I'm used to buying tamales off the side of the road that are bigger for $2-3 or $10 for big fat tamales at the farmers market. But $10-12 for skinny tamales makes me sad. I guess that's how much they have to charge in Sedona to run a brick and mortar. Service is friendly so definitely support if you're in the area. The ambiance is cute.

Found this unique restaurant in Sedona, made possible by talented Mexican ladies with a passion for tradition and authenticity. The flavors will stay in your heart and mind long after you're done eating. I wished the portions were larger for the price, but I like to eat a lot, so I'm always looking for more!
